The state of Ohio is located in the American Midwest. The capital is Columbus. With an area of 116,069 square kilometers, Ohio ranks 34th in size compared to the other states in the country. The Ohio area is on average 260 meters above sea level. The highest point in the state, Campbell Hill, is 472 meters and the lowest, on the Ohio River, is 139 meters above sea level.
Ohio was named after the 1,579 km long river of the same name , which runs the entire southern border of the state to West Virginia in the southeast and Kentuckymarked in the southwest.
